Our Ministry

At Epiphany, we recognize that our community is rooted in, and of, Valdez. Our ministry serves Valdez by offering:

A Welcome on the Spiritual Journey

We cultivate a community of welcome in behavior and habit, providing enriching social and spiritual activities for all members.

Enrichment of Knowledge and Faith

We provide faith development studies for adults and youth, including seasonal educational opportunities in Advent and Lent, and the exploration of diverse spiritual traditions.

Support for Community Members in Need

We advocate for those facing housing insecurity and serve as a welcoming space for hosting people in times of emergent need.

Presence Beyond the Church Walls

We enrich relationships with local organizations, host community events, and participate in the Valdez Ministerial Alliance to foster interreligious connection.

Celebration of Blended Expressions of Faith

We honor a blend of Lutheran, Episcopal, and Protestant traditions through shared worship planning, familiar hymns, and accessible services via Zoom and in-person gathered worship.

In 2021, after a three-year process, Epiphany Lutheran-Episcopal Church voted to become a Reconciling in Christ (RIC) partner, a national organization of Lutheran Churches which share the mission of "advocat[ing] for the acceptance, full participation, and liberation of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions within the Lutheran Church."

We continue to embody this mission through our regular meetings of the Love How You Are committee which is tasked with a continuing commitment to research more ways to serve the marginalized people in our community.
